An Introduction To The Discussion Forum

Never used a Discussion Forum before? Don't even know what one is?

Don't worry, this page is a great introduction to one of our latest additions to the website.

What Is A Discussion Forum?

This is how a Forum is defined in the English language:

forum: n. 1. a place of or meeting for public discussion. 2. a periodical etc. giving an opportunity for discussion.

Basically, an internet Discussion Forum allows you to chat with any number of like-minded people without needing the other people to even be using their computers at the time.

For example, if you wanted help with expanding an idea for a training course, you could post it on the Discussion Forum, and anyone else using the Forum would be able to read it and put up replies to it to help you out. In turn, these replies could be read by anybody else too, and if any of those readers wished to reply they could also.

As you can imagine, conversations could grow bigger and bigger quite quickly!

This is great though. You can chat safely with people that you'd never normally meet, discuss the latest NLP developments, ask for help with particular things, search for people and services... all from the comfort of your home. And best of all, it's a completely free service to use, so there's no risk at all!

How Do I Use It?

If you just want to look at what other people are talking about, then go to www.forum.NLPDevelopment.org.uk and click on any of the "discussion boards" that look interesting to you. Each board will contain any number of conversation "threads". Click on any thread and you will see all of the history of that discussion. Easy!

If you decide that you actually want to join in, then you will need an "identity". Click on the <Register> button, and supply your details. You'll then be logged in. Don't worry about anonymity - you can hide your personal details and use a pseudonym, or nickname, while you're on. So for example, you could create yourself a login account with the name of "NLP Fanclub" or even "Chatterbox"!

If you want extra help, then there is a <Help> button at the top of the Discussion Forum's screen which will give you a lot more information about the forum and how to use it.
