CHARISMA - How To Be An Inspiring
Communicator |
| Abstract: |
What
is it about charismatic leaders that captivates us? Part
of the answer is their power to be their own
unique selves. Yet, how could being ourselves,
with the insecurities that make standing up in front of
people
challenging in the first place, be the most
powerful way of making an impact? In this lively, interactive
workshop, we will discover the truth behind
this paradox,
and learn techniques to transform our impact
on others.
AIMS
The workshop will develop answers to these
questions:
- What exactly is charisma,
and how can I possess it?
- How can I captivate
an audience and be attractive to others?
- How
can I be more spontaneous in front of others?

Expository Cartography |
| Abstract: |
Social psychological research shows that when faced
with
decisions we most often use simple rules with only sufficiency
criteria, with little consideration of consequences that
require the least effort - and that our subsequent explanations
of effects have
the same shortsightedness. In other words, we take up maps
that support our mental and emotional biases, not the ones
best fitted to the task.
Further, our 'choice' of maps reveal the distinctions and
processes by which we build these biases. This applies to
even elaborate models
like NLP and Wilber's 4 Quadrants. This session introduces
some of the essential map making properties and processes
- that can be applied
to any model - and how to use them to systematically select
and enrich your modelling. |

Scared to dance? Scared to try?
Dancing can be so much fun, especially when you know the secret to making it work!
In this event, we will teach a series of fun easy LeRoc moves, as if you've never danced in your life. After only a short period you will be dancing away having a great time, realising that actually... you don't need to know how to dance in order to dance!
So if you've got two left feet... I've got just the dance for you!
This event is open to anybody who can move and have fun. Partners are not needed - we will be moving everyone around throughout the class!
NOTE: Footwear can make quite a difference here, so try to bring something comfortable to wear that allows you to turn and spin e.g. leather soles, plastic soles, etc. |

Archetypes, As Partners In Our Life's Journey |
| Abstract: |
Stephen Gilligan suggests that we are constantly influenced
by 2 stories, the story of the personal self and the story of the collective self. In 1919, Carl Jung suggested that the latter is organized around universal themes, images and patterns, which he called "archetypes"; - bundles of psychic energy drawn from the collective unconscious. The more we become aware of our own archetypes and the more we develop a positive relationship with them in our personal journey through life, the more fulfilled we can be.
Against the backcloth of story telling and reflection about the role of stories in our lives, this workshop connects with some of Gilligan's work in this area, and introduces delegates to the work of Carol Pearson on archetypes ("Awakening the Heroes Within"), it gives an opportunity to delegates to experience their own personal relationship with each of the archetypes and to reflect on the implications for the next phase in their life journey.
The integration of these Jungian concepts, refreshed and made more accessible by Stephen Gilligan and Carol Pearson, with NLP inspired change work and life coaching provides a potentially powerful resource to clients, and with them, their NLP practitioners.
There is indeed more... |

Holistic integration of Hypnosis and Meditation for Personal Development |
| Abstract #1: |
Purpose
The purpose of this training is to develop a whole brain approach to thinking, feeling and behaving through developing an integrated use of meditation and hypnosis. Through the training you will learn to use a variety of meditations and levels of hypnosis to explore how you organise and process your reality. You will then learn how to use these processes to facilitate specific changes.
Human Development
For thousands of years different cultures have developed and practiced a wide variety of meditation and trance techniques to enhance thinking and spiritual practice.
Meditation
Many people think of meditation as a way of relaxing. It is also much more than that. Meditation is the systematic cultivation of resourceful mental states: one meditates to transform oneself and one's world. The practice of sitting in meditation is not an end in itself but is a process of changing the way our minds work - with repercussions on all aspects of living. Through the process of modelling we can identify the different skills and changes traditionally sought through meditation and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the process.
Hypnosis
Hypnosis is often thought of as a kind of relaxation or sleep. The coining of the name hypnosis from hypnos (sleep) by Braid emphasised this. He later tried to change the name when he had experimented more and realised that 'hypnosis could be used for active behavioural change. Through hypnosis it is easier to activate unconscious processes making active use of the patterning and creative abilities of the non-dominant hemisphere. The history and practical performance of hypnosis has been riddled with myths and rituals. Through the process of modelling we can identify the key processes (and tricks) in traditional induction techniques and create simpler, more effective ways of inducing trance and using hypnosis.
Integration of Hypnosis and Meditation
Through the modelling methodology of Developmental Behavioural Modelling and thirty years exploring meditation and hypnosis, John McWhirter has developed an integrated process that combines the individual benefits of meditation and hypnosis, creating more than the sum of the parts, offering a development tool to assist in a holistic approach to learning and personal development. |

Introduction to DBM Systemic Therapy and Consultancy |
| Abstract #2: |
All of us are born knowing next to nothing, able to do very little for ourselves. In a short period of time each of us creates our own understanding, our model, of the world, and through this understanding we create effective ways to live in the world. Throughout our life we can greatly improve our effectiveness through education and training.
Sometimes the ways we develop personally are not effective and we benefit from assistance, advice and support through to coaching, counselling and therapy.
Therapists are no different. They also develop their own models with a similar range of effective and less effective behaviours and also benefit from education, training and support.
For the last twenty five years NLP has been one of the major resources for therapists to improve their effectiveness. NLP was created through the application of modelling to study the most effective therapists to identify what they did that was more effective than others. The result was a range of skills and techniques that others can use to improve their effectiveness.
The standardised therapy techniques in NLP do not match the richness, variation and creativity that is evident in the life problems people experience. NLP is not in itself a therapeutic methodology. It was never designed as one. It was designed to supplement other methodologies. Together these limitations create a major professional problem for those wanting to use NLP as their main approach to therapy.
In recent years modelling has been greatly extended and improved and these improvements, known as Developmental Behavioural Modelling (DBM®), have been applied not just with individual examples of effective therapy but to the process of therapy itself. The result is a holistic systemic modelling methodology for therapy.
The methodology integrates the best from science, clear thinking, precision, experimentation, testability, and verification, together with the best from art, creativity, intuition, and aesthetic and offers therapist further advances in their effectiveness. As part of a holistic approach the methodology includes a consultancy model that integrates the roles of advise, counselling and therapy with teaching, training, coaching and supervision.
A two year Systemic Therapy and Consultancy Diploma (prerequisite NLP Master Practitioner certification) has been taught and further developed and tested over the last ten years in England, Scotland, Denmark and Spain.
In this workshop you will learn key distinctions, skills and processes for effective therapy. This will include:
- How we all build our natural models of the world
- The different kinds of natural modelling: Mythical, Metaphoric, Magical, and Formal (scientific)
- Specific models for modelling and change
- How to model another persons model of the world
- Specific Language tools for effective information gathering
- How to direct the five senses for different tasks - the senses ‘able-to’
- How to identify specific patterns of behaviour, successful ways to do things - ‘sense-able ways’
- How to identify and select the most worthwhile things to change - the ‘sense-able choice’
- Different types and levels of change
- How to work differently with Difficulties, Problem, Limitations
- The difference in Coping, Solving and Learning interventions
- Conscious, unconscious and biological mind change
- To facilitate transitions in change: identifying transitions, partial completion and how to help make complete transitions
- A self management model for personal and professional development
- Specific learning processes and strategies
- How to evaluate therapy effectively
- To test the effectiveness of the skills directly through your own experience and that of other participants

| Title: |
Towards Integral Conflict Transformation |
| Abstract: |
There are symbiotic links between the transformation of
conflict and transformation of the self through conflict. However, popular notions of conflict and of transformation are in danger of becoming modern social clichés, which although often referred to are little understood and this lack of clarity is counterproductive to the individual, organisation and society.
Typically a command and control style of thinking is used in an attempt to deal with conflict, yet as Einstein so clearly pointed out, thinking that remains at the same level of the problem is incapable of bringing the solution. In a similar way this thinking style will often maintain or displace a conflict and inhibits transformation, which is a higher order of experience and imagination.
Such poverty of understanding reinforces a mindset that is limiting in terms of integral awareness because it seeks to translate conflicts only in terms of assumptions and emotions that share a common texture of immobilisation. It is precisely this immobilisation that leads to the stagnation of energy and ideas and to inertia, denial, blame or distraction, all of which are themselves components of conflict.
In general terms, at our current stages of development, society’s reflex is to respond to conflict experiences through fear, coercion and the squaring of round pegs. Common understanding from conflict management (and resolution) implies that imposition and control are the order of the day, rather than the acceptance of groundlessness and confusion. In fact society attacks sensations of groundlessness and confusion because it assumes that they too are features of conflict, failing to recognise them as the first buds of fresh growth.
Although thankfully this approach is adept at preserving safety during certain (short-wave) conflicts the compulsion to impose and coerce may be robbing many other (long-wave) conflicts of their teaching and healing messages and in so doing contribute to the stifling of the evolution of humanity as a global quality of consciousness.
This presentation suggests that we are able to move to transform conflict and to transform our self through conflict experiences (certain attitudes and techniques will be shared). It is also suggested that each conflict we experience emits a metaphorical sonogram, which if glimpsed may allow us to reweave the narrative that composes us, offering access to hidden resources and potential capabilities. Such openness to new meanings is a truly transformative state that can profoundly influence the direction and quality of our lives, contributions, organisations and crucial aspects of our individual, corporate and societal wellness.
Many people find that these ‘higher frequency’ transformative attitudes to conflict are inspirational, effective and sustainable, and they may be tempted to model this mindset, thereby generating a similar moodscape and receptivity to transformation. In this particular way, and perhaps in more mysterious ways that could be linked to collective consciousness, each individual who seeks conflict transformation and transformation through conflict may help to add momentum to the evolution of the wider integral picture.
Paradoxically, transformation through being open to groundlessness and confusion may be crucial to the movement of humanity from fractured self-interest to concerted planetary energy. It may be that if societal approaches to transformation can be rewired, the next spiral of evolution towards a united human consciousness may emerge. This presentation will speculate that once immobilisers are removed streams of evolution are freer to express themselves through a more attentive human consciousness and that humanity may move from being the inattentive expresser to the attentive expression of energy. This involves a shift from duality to unity.
Integral Conflict Transformation allows participants to step beyond what has been traditionally thought possible in conventional conflict management and resolution because it offers the potential for a vertical shift (transformation) as opposed to a horizontal shift (command and control). Our starting point is based upon a premise and a question. If we all carry different potentials, how can we expect to reach the potentials of others and our selves when they have not yet been formed?
Perhaps Integral Conflict Transformation is able to do just this.
This presentation is comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty and it seeks to re-enchant the mystery of groundlessness and confusion thereby enriching meaning rather than suggesting mechanisms of imposition and coercion, which create limiting assumptions and provide fertile ground for hostility, aggression, defensiveness and violence. |

Quantum Reading |
| Abstract: |
Improving your reading is not just about going faster; it is about changing your approach to reading. You can, by changing the way you look at words, effectively download the contents of a book into your non-conscious brain and long-term memory, at speeds of over one page per second.
How it works
It is a whole-brain approach to reading using the latest knowledge of how the brain processes information. It unites the logic of the left brain, the conceptual abilities of the right brain, the conscious and non-conscious brains to process written information.
Is it different to Speed Reading? Yes! Speed Reading is doing what you learnt at school but faster, possibly up to 1,000 words per minute. Quantum Reading™ gives a 20 to 30 fold improvement over Speed Reading AND with improved comprehension. It makes what you read more meaningful and personal, giving a richer, more valuable insight and understanding.
What is Quantum Reading™?
Quantum Reading™ is a technique developed by Paul Hobbs of The Thinking Consultancy Ltd
Quantum Reading™ is about you being able to absorb written material, primarily from books, at speeds of between 20,000 to 30,000 words per minute. It is in effect like you being able to down load the contents of a book into your long-term, non-conscious memory and then being able to use or recall the information as and when wanted.

If NLP’s So Great, Where’s My Ferrari? |
| Abstract: |
“If NLP’s so great, where’s my Ferrari?” OK, so I’ve never
actually heard anyone say that, but I can sense it, lurking in the collective unconscious of the NLP community. The content, of course, varies: "Where’s my million pounds?", "Where’s my Nobel prize?", "Where’s my perfect partner (or queue of slightly imperfect ones)?", but the form remains the same. And why do you never hear these words spoken aloud? Because having been lured by the promises of NLP ("You can have whatever you want, be whoever you choose, do whatever you wish") into investing time, money and belief, people are terrified that the emperor might be sporting little more than a thong.
Now you may think that this is a strange thing for an NLP Trainer to be saying, but I’m hoping that by shedding some light on these shadowy concerns, we can ensure that everyone in the world of NLP gets all the fame, fortune and Ferraris they are entitled to. |

Reading Faces To Succeed in Business and Relationships |
| Abstract: |
Face Language is based on ancient wisdom using
modern day technology for determining behavioral tendencies.
It helps us to develop an awareness of ourselves and other's.
This approach to understanding the link between the facial structure
and behavior was first researched from the 1930's - 1960's and
was found to be 92% accurate for personality assessment. The
information gathered yields results similar to many of the career
or personality tests offered today. The major difference is
the traits are instantly recognizable without any questions
being asked.
The seven major traits to be covered will be demonstrated
using visual aids and audience participation.
Purpose and Outcome for Attendees:
Understanding a client’s
traits will help workshop participants be more effective
during the coaching process. Learning
how to read faces, will give the participants a foundation
to
start from. This is a new and fascinating topic, one that
will be enjoyed by all. Face Reading offers new insights
to human behavior and will compliment the services of the
NLP practitioners. |

Modelling Spirituality |
| Abstract: |
Brian Van der Horst has participated in many meditative disciplines, and in the 80s, started wondering how NLP could be used to model the spiritual experience. Many greater minds that his, from Ken Wilber to George Leonard, Michael Murphy, to Steve Andreas have given wonderful versions since then, but Brian is still willing to share what has worked and not, and what might be a post-modern and post-mystical approach to this perennial pursuit.

Healthcentered Integration: How To
Re-Integrate A Disintegrating Body
|
| Abstract: |
Movement is life. Last year I visited Monkey
World to see the animals that had been liberated from research
laboratories. For up to 19 years these monkeys sat in 1 metre
by 1 metre boxes. They could not walk upright, turn, jump,
and even their facial expressions showed sadness. Humans
can spend up to 25 years frozen in the bright lights of the
flight/fight, response/ react tension state, often mentally
and physically, tied to chairs and cars all day. Like the
monkeys, humans forget how to think and move in the free
natural confident organic ways of young children. However,
with gentle exploration, curiosity, and practice, the skills
of organic movement can be available to you. In this session
you will explore your somatic behaviour using easy, gentle
micro movements, in lying trance work. Discover how easy
it is to re-integrate your dis-integrated body, and in the
process gain a new state of creative organic thinking. |
